International Dog Day is not only a day of doggie celebration but also a day to highlight and raise awareness about the large number of dogs currently in rescue, greatly in need of loving homes. It's a day to encourage people to ADOPT rather than shop for their furry family members.
In Ireland, every single rescue is under extreme pressure, absolutely full to capacity
with dogs in need of loving forever homes and urgently in need of temporary foster homes .
Sadly an overwhelming number of these dogs are greyhounds and lurchers. Anyone who owns a sighthound knows what loving, gentle, quirky and pawsitively wonderful pets they make. If you are considering inviting a furry friend into your family please consider a sighthound and please help spread the word about what absolutely WONDERFUL pets these often misunderstood and overlooked breeds make!
