Agatha's Happy Ever After ๐Ÿพ

Agatha snoozing on their new sofas

Hello from your gentle girl with the softest heart

What her pawrents say:

โ€œShe is a joyful, playful companion who runs free on North Coast beaches, "helps" with the gardening and stockpiles toys across her half-acre paradise!โ€

Bouncy, playful and full of confidence, Agatha is living her best life since finding her forever home with Stephanie, Brian and a pack of four houndie siblings in Antrim.

This beautiful black and white girl has transformed from a shy, introverted hound into a joyful, playful companion who runs free on North Coast beaches, "helps" with the gardening and stockpiles toys across her half-acre paradise.

The moment they knew she was the one

When Stephanie and Brian came across Agatha online, they reached out straight away. They knew she was the hound for them. We couldn't have been more delighted.

When Agatha first came into our care, she was a very shy and introverted little girl. We knew she would truly flourish in a home with other dogs to help guide and reassure her. Stephanie and Brian's home could not have been more perfect. Surrounded by loving houndie siblings, endless companionship, understanding and a half-acre of space to run, play and simply be a dog, it really was the dream home we had hoped and wished for Agatha.

A weekend in the life of Agatha

Agatha's days are filled with her pack of four buddies. They play, eat and sleep together, often squeezed into one huge nest (not much room left for mammy!). She loves trips to the golden sandy beaches on the North Coast where she runs free along the seashore. Her brother Jimpsky once glided past her mid-run, leaving her absolutely astonished. She thought it was hilarious.

At home, she's conquered the stairs with confidence, finishing each climb with a big bunny hop at the top. She loves "gardening" (though she can't quite distinguish between flowers and weeds yet) and stockpiles her host of toys around the half-acre garden. Playing ball is her favourite. And when it's time to rest? Two new megalithic sofas arrived just for her and the gang to snooze on together.

Agatha loves a good reason to dress up!

Greatest achievement?

Transforming from a timid, hesitant girl into a confident hound with impressive recall who can run free on beaches and fields. That's the power of patience, love and a brilliant foster family.

Agatha says:

'Hi I'm Agatha, a bouncy, playful 19 month old pretty girl. After a long journey from Cork to Ballymena, I arrived at my new home. Whawee I received a fanfare from my new pack of 4 dogs. They have all been fantastic buddies. We play, eat and sleep together. They even let me squeeze into their huge nest from the first night, not much room left for mammy!

I've been on travels to the North Coast golden sandy beach. I even persuaded mammy to let me run free. I thought I was running fast along the seashore when all of a sudden, Jimpsky, my new brother greyhound simply glided past me. I couldn't believe it! He thought it was hilarious.

My new home has stairs which I was initially frightened to climb. By the next morning, I had a few more attempts and now I'm so fast and do a big bunny hop when I reach the top. I love gardening but as yet I can't distinguish between flowers and weeds. I've a host of toys which I stock pile around the 1/2 acre garden. Playing ball is my favourite. Yesterday 2 megalithic boxes arrived, yepee, 2 new sofas for me and my gang to snooze on together. I'm heading outside to run free over the fields. Bye for now, love Agatha.'

Thank you

A very special thank you goes to Agatha's incredible foster family, Ashleigh, Dave and their adorable houndie pack, for welcoming Agatha into your home and surrounding her with the love, patience, reassurance and care she so desperately needed.

When Agatha first arrived, she was an extremely shy and introverted little girl who needed time, understanding and gentle encouragement to help her feel safe and secure. Ashleigh and Dave poured so much dedication, compassion and commitment into helping Agatha blossom. They truly went above and beyond every single day to build her confidence, support her at her own pace and show her what it means to feel loved and safe.

Through their patience, consistency and hard work, Agatha made incredible progress in foster care, including developing such impressive recall that she can now safely enjoy freedom and adventures with confidence. That achievement is a true reflection of the time, love and effort her foster family invested in helping her thrive.

A sincere thank you also to James and Noelle for assisting with Agatha's transport from Cork to Ballymena. We greatly appreciate your time and efforts.

Why Greyhounds Make Great Pets

Irish greyhounds are often misunderstood. They're calm, gentle and surprisingly adaptable. With patience and the right environment, even the shyest hound can blossom into a confident, joyful companion.

โ€ข Two short walks, then back to the couch (or the giant nest with the pack).
โ€ข Quiet, calm and born for snuggles.
โ€ข Thrive in homes with other dogs for companionship and confidence.
โ€ข Full of personality: toy hoarders, wannabe gardeners, bunny hoppers.
โ€ข Loyal, affectionate and deeply bonded to their people.

Ready to Meet Your Future Hound?

Every greyhound at RIGHT lives in a foster home before adoption. This means they're house trained, used to home life and showing their real personality. You're not taking a chance. You're meeting a hound who's already settled into the rhythm of home.

RIGHT was founded in 2019 and is run entirely by volunteers. We're a foster-based charity, which means every hound gets the chance to decompress, learn and grow before finding their forever family. We also run regular meet and greets so you can spend time with our hounds and see if there's a connection. Learn more about our adoption process.

If you'd like to meet your future hound, get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.

Agatha is home, but there are so many others waiting to find their forever family just like her. You're not rescuing a greyhound. You're giving them the life they've always deserved. And in return? Unconditional love and a companion who'll never leave your side.

March 2026 Update from Agatha!

When Agatha arrived in foster back in December, the world felt like a very big place. She was gentle and shy, moving quietly through her days, taking her time to figure out that she was safe. Being called over was enough to make her hang back. She needed time and that's exactly what she got.

And what a difference it's made.

โ€œAgatha loves running and romping with her sighthound pals, and she's a clever girl who takes to new games quickly. Carrots are a firm favourite treat, so ensure you have a supply at the ready!โ€

Agatha now trots over when called, ready for pets and treats. She greets her foster family after work with excited mouth snappies and the most adorable tippy-tappy feet. She hops on the sofa for cuddles and curls up for morning snuggles like she's always lived there. Because now, she has.

Her playful side has come alive too. She loves running and romping with her sighthound pals, and she's a clever girl who takes to new games quickly. Carrots are a firm favourite treat, should you need to know that.

Day to day, she's spotless in the house, sleeps peacefully through the night in her own bed and walks beautifully on lead. Loud noises can still give her pause, but her gentle, affectionate nature always wins out. She also has a funny little habit of collecting treasures in her bed. No resource guarding, just a girl who knows what she likes.

The biggest milestone? The trust she now shows. Cuddles, kisses and joyful greetings from a hound who once kept her distance. She's come so far and she's just getting started.

A home with another playful sighthound would be a dream for her. Could that be yours?
